How Does Wipeout Compare?

Wipeout is an IE shell.  Which means it’s a small app that piggybacks Internet Explorer and uses some of IE’s surfing functionality, whilst adding its own features such as Private Browsing and the Channels.  So unlike the big browsers, it’s less than a mb in size and can be downloaded or deleted in seconds.

Wipeout has not set out to challenge IE, Mozilla and Chrome at browsing.  Wipeout has only one purpose in mind; to be a simple, lightweight “app” for private browsing.  So there are no toolbars, plug-ins, bookmarks and feeds.  No choice of private browsing settings to worry about.  No tabs to open.  No mode to switch on, or forget to switch on.  And when you close it down, you see it clean up every time.  There’s even a “!” panic button in the header.

However if the stakes are high, and your job or family or financial security depends on it; or if you’re looking to break the law; then Wipeout and other free private browsers are not for you.  Read more.

While this computer won’t have a record of your browsing history, your internet service provider or employer can still track the pages you visit.
